FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Australis // METALLIX eyeshadow & Velourlips

For this look I mainly wanted to try out the metallix foil eyeshadow and matte black lip cream.
So I wanted my eyes to be shiny with neutral colours, face to be very highlighted, and it all muted down with a matte black lip.
I can definitely imagine wearing this look for New Years Eve!

METALLIX eyeshadow// Pearl Jammin'

I was so excited to try it because it is the new 'foil' eyeshadows but super affordable.
The colour range was also very good, but I decided on Pearl Jammin' because i was a gold and can go well with a range of looks.

t h o u g h t s :
I was really surprised with the texture of the eyeshadow.
At first I dug at it with my brush... but the product didn't seem to transfer onto my brush.
I soon realised you have to swipe the product onto the brush.

The application of it was quite difficult, I was struggling.
Definitely very pigmented, but maybe it just takes practice haha.
A positive is that the eyeshadow does not transfer/ smudge as I think the Stila foil eyeshadows do (?).
After you have successfully applied the foil eyeshadow on... it actually looks very impressive and glittery.
However, you may need to give it a few swipes of makeup wipes to clean up the mess.
Also, it's very difficult to blend it with the crease colour.

o v e r a l l :
Beautiful colour/ glitter payoff.
Struggled to apply it.
But it would be a great look for new years eve or any event that gives you an excuse to put glitter on your face.

Velourlips matte lip cream// Mel-Burn

I have previously used the the velouplips in the shade NYC which is a bright red and absolutely loved it because of its staying power (even when eating) and it was very easy to apply.

So at the recent Priceline sale, I decided to buy the pack of mini velourlips in the darker shades.

I LOVE the brown shade (Mum-Bai) however it kept flaking/peeling/smudging off and it was really disappointing. I wore it to the clubs where it didn't even last 15 minutes, and spent the next 10 minutes in the toilets trying to get it off. Then i gave it a second chance and wore it shopping. The application was a bit dry. It lasted okay... until after a few hours and mcdonalds fries, it just smudged.

I gave up on that, but I wasn't sure if it was just bad luck or if all of the other colours were the same.
So I decided to try the black (Mel-Burn).

t h o u g h t s :
The application was way smoother than the brown shade.
I didn't eat or drink with the lip cream on.
Even though i love the dark shades (made my teeth look a bit blue),
my lips felt so dry, and it was pretty uncomfortable.
I couldn't wait to wipe it off.

o v e r a l l :
Love the colours...
Very affordable...
Doesn't transfer (when not eating or drinking),
But not very practical to wear out.
Save it for the selfies.

GRWM: HALLOWEEN 2015 (zombie)

This year I made some effort for Halloween and I decided to record the process.
It was my first time doing such crazy makeup but it was heaps of fun with the colours and fake blood.
Watch me attempt to turn into a zombie :)'
Hope you enjoy! x

r e v i e w : ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS - dipbrow pomade (dark brown)

BRAND - Anastasia Beverly Hills
PRODUCT - Dipbrow Pomade
SHADE - Dark Brown
SIZE - 4g
PRICE£12.60 ($27.16AUD)
WEBSITE - beautybay.com

I've always wondered how people achieve the 'instagram eyebrows'.
Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow products have been all the rage,
and since I've been loving the Elf Eyebrow Kit I decided to try out the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade.

The packaging looks nice and simple with a very decent amount of product (especially as it should be used within 6 months of opening).
However I was very surprised, and slightly disappointed, that the product is made in PRC (aka China).

I was deciding between the shades Dark Brown and Chocolate,
but Chocolate is more warm and i thought Dark Brown would be the safest option, especially since I haven't been dying my hair recently.

APPLICATION -
My friend warned me about having to use a light hand.
Agreed!
The product is very pigmented, soft, and creamy so it is easy to apply, but also easy to make mistakes and overdraw.
You definitely do not need a lot of product on the brush.
After I finished one brow and looked in the mirror, it looked like I had just used a black sharpie.
So it is very important to blend it out with a spoolie.

Let's do a comparison with other products.
As i mentioned, i'm no pro at eyebrows.
But the product that I used most of the time was the Elf Eyebrow Kit (medium) with the pigmented wax and powder.
I didn't really use the powder, just mainly the pigmented wax because it would keep my brow hairs in line and also fill in any sparse areas giving a really natural finish.

I was so surprised at how quickly the Elf wax just faded/wiped off in comparison with the Anastasia pomade.
Even if I rubbed the Anastasia swatch, it didn't budge.

THE VERDICT -
It is said that the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade is a 'highly-pigmented, fast-drying, creamy pomade that resists smudging and sliding'.
I must say, that is very accurate!

For the product, the price wasn't ridiculous and is quite worth it.
I've left the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade on my eyebrows for the whole day with no foundation on my face, and I really like it!
The colour payoff is great and the product makes my eyebrows look structured and clean, drawing the attention away from my far from flawless skin.

Initially I thought that if I was in a rush to school or work I would probably lean towards grabbing the Elf Eyebrow Kit instead just because it isn't as pigmented so I don't have to concentrate so hard and worry about fixing up my mistakes.
However after a week of practice, I'm getting the hang of using it without looking like I've drawn on my eyebrows with a sharpie.
This is all I use for my brows now, and I'm seriously loving it!

If I want to look put together/ somewhat decent but don't really want to wear foundation or much makeup, I would definitely just apply the pomade on my brows and head out the door.
Definitely glad I tried out this product!
